Synopsis

In December 1987, Kim Young Sam and Kim Dea Joong fail to consolidate their candidacy for President. Thus, Roh Tea-Woo is elected as President. Not many people probably remember how dirty that election was, that forgotten winter.
Around 11 o'clock on December 16th that year, a Titan truck loaded up the ballot boxes and hid this load under packages of factory bread, but it is probably meaningless to talk of such things today. However, to my twenty year-old self at the time, that short three days of experience was the turning point of my life.
Why did I not step away from that scene?
I wanted to talk about what we remember, and from today's perspective what is important from what we remember, of those scenes that are life with violence and yet have disappeared from history, and of the responsibility for that violence, and of the silence that we all had to swallow.
The past that is not confronted will conquer the future. If memories of the past lay siege to our present, our wounds and tragedy will continue into the future. Here is to hoping that this is towards one less link in that many-chained vicious cycle...
