Synopsis

I am a common person in my twenties; except for the fact that I am a migrant woman living in 'Maseok'.
I have lived here with my family since I was a kid. For a long time, I have been called 'migrant child', 'migrant teenager' and finally 'migrant woman' rather than my given name.
I have had a friend named Robin since childhood in the neighborhood. But he was suddenly deported. My little brother likes to hang out with his friends and from time to time he refuses to get back home and spends all night staying out with them. My mom is almost always sick, depending on medicine. She always says she can't go back to homeland until my brother graduates from his high school. I begin to record my daily life and neighbor with my camera. At the same time, I am learning to see their dreams, worries, and my mind itself.

Director's Statement

When I was a kid my father was deported to his home country. Since then I have had lots of interviews and been recorded from the media from time to time, as a migrant who can speak Korean very well. They made and reconstructed me in the atmosphere of kindness and pity, as well as distortion and discrimination. Now I want to speak about myself. About my friends, my neighbor and my family, and most importantly about myself, Shanta Monica.
